Fold, Flow & Create: Accordion Books – A workshop for taking time out and making beautiful handmade objects

Join bona fide bibliophile Monica Peters for a relaxed, hands-on three-hour workshop exploring the creative possibilities of the accordion (concertina) fold. In this class, you’ll create a unique handmade piece that unfolds into a continuous surface for drawing, collage, photography, journalling, poetry, or visual storytelling. You’ll learn how to fold and construct an accordion book, create sturdy covers, and personalise your work using a range of papers and found materials. This versatile format can be adapted into sketchbooks, artist books, travel journals, keepsakes, or thoughtful handmade gifts.

You’re welcome to bring decorative papers, magazines for collage, photographs, maps, sheet music, postcards, or other lightweight materials you’d like to incorporate into your creation.

By the end of the session, you’ll head home with a completed handmade accordion book, along with the skills and confidence to continue making your own.

No prior experience is necessary. Classes are limited to 10 participants and are suitable for ages 14 and over. All materials and tools are provided, along with a post-session beer or alcohol-free drink.
